History
Miconi Tile was established in 1952 by Gene O. Miconi. Gene received his training in Rome Italy as a young man working with his uncle. Working hard for very little pay they installed ceramic tile and natural stone twelve hours a day. Gene was drafted prior to WW II and his platoon was captured in the North Africa campaign. He was transferred to the Utah D.D.O. as a prisoner of war. While there he worked with military and civilian personnel helping with the war effort.
Gene met his future wife Iola while interned at the D.D.O. They married in 1945 and stayed together until Gene passed away in 2008. Gene and Iola had three sons, Gene H., Dennis, and David. He was employed by Pioneer Tile after the war, he then went out on his own in 1952 establishing Miconi Tile.
All of the sons worked in the family business from a young age under the guidance of their father. The three brothers worked together for a number of years; David left to establish his own company in the San Francisco, Ca. area; Gene H. currently is self employed in the tile business and Dennis is the current owner of Miconi Tile Inc. and has expanded the business to include natural stone slab fabrication & installation.
Today Miconi Tile Inc. holds licenses in several western states where the company installs tile, pavers, natural stone, dimensional stone and associated products. Miconi Tile Inc. also maintains a presence in the wholesale and retail sector, operating a successful showroom and warehouse business.
